(via Kleinheider) State Rep. Eric Swafford has become the first state representative in the nation to demand President Obama provide proof he was born in the United States, according to a conservative website.
The Defend Our Freedoms Foundation website says Rep. Swafford joined Dr. Orly Taitz’s lawsuit yesterday naming defendant Barry Soetoro, known by most Americans as President Barack Obama.
You probably can’t read the text on the letterhead of Rep. Swafford, but here is the very brief transcript:

Now, here’s an example of chutzpah: The Republicans didn’t get their act together enough to challenge Obama for not being constitutionally qualified to be President as an Article 2 “natural born citizen” so Obama’s White House steals the census from the Commerce Department against the specific instructions of the constitution itself — “actual enumeration” under Article 1
This is ridiculous. How does Rep. Swafford think Obama got here–was he hatched? We don’t need no stinking certificate of birth. Of all the things in Obama’s background that we don’t know about, the one thing we’re sure of is that he was born.
Being a natural born citizen of the US is required to be eligible for President which is important for keeping a usurper out of the highest position there is. We do not want to blow off a requirement that helps keep this country safe! If he is legit he will have no problem proving it. Can you say someone was not properly vetted?

It fails to be amusing when you consider the implications of a president who is not and may be proven to be disqualified as president. The laws passed during his tenure, the orders given to the military, the treaties or agreements with foreign nations will all become moot.
Let us know the truth. Obama should be as transparent as he promised. If there is no problem with his qualifications, why has he spent close to one million dollars to keep his documents ranging from birth to school records hidden? Why? Why?
Just want to know the answer.
Kudos to Swafford for doing the right thing. I wish more elected officials (and the media) were “interested” in the vetting of the President of the United States. There is no other position in America, private or public, that should require a most complete vetting. I have to show more information, than Obama did, to obtain a drivers license.

Did the Framers intend “natural-born” to be limited to vaginal deliveries? Or did they include Caesarian births as natural-born?
Rob is hilarious. He doesn’t care who are president as long as he was “born” - which I guess would allow him to accept a gorilla, a zebra, or a kitten. He also doesn’t understand “citizenship” law or he wouldn’t be claiming that o’s mother could have granted him status if he was born in Kenya (hint: she wasn’t old enough under the LAW) and that status is dependent on a variety of other factors: ie, if his father was a British citizen when he was born, if his stepfather adopted him, etc.

Cats makes an interesting suggestion but goes too far. As appealing as it might be to give citizenship to a non-human species, the Fourteenth Amendment seems to limit citizenship to “persons.” Were it not for that restriction, I for one would be very much in favor of offering citizenship to dogs; once they were given citizenship (which except for the Fourteenth Amendment limitation could be accomplished by Act of Congress), they’d be theoretically eligible to be President. This is a situtation, though, where theory runs headlong into practice. Since dogs never live to be 35, they’d effectively be barred from the Presidency.
Though in favor of offering citizenship to dogs, I’d oppose giving it to cats, which I belief are too aloof to take seriously their responsibilities as citizens.
Why are so many of Obama’s records sealed? Does anybody ever ask him personally? Why are both Barack and Michelle’s college records sealed? Why aren’t they being transparent?

1) mother has to have been of age 19 to have given legal citizenship to offspring; she is shy of age 19 by several months
2) if he isn’t illegitimate(not proven yet, no marriage license found) his alleged father is British from Kenya, not American citizen
3) to be natural born citizen(note the word natural) one must be born to two natural born citizens, which Obama Sr isn’t
4) and it wouldn’t matter if Dumbo was born in the hand of the Statue of Liberty holding the national flag, he will never be a NBC; in fact, as of now, he isn’t even naturalized–he is Indonesian citizen and is in reality an illegal alien

The idea that a “natural born citizen” requires two citizen parents is an urban legend currently being spread by of anti-Obama bloggers. It has no basis in the Constitution or in US law.
Consistently, US Courts have used the terms “natural born citizen” and “born in the United States” interchangeably.
Oh, and JJ, President Chester Alan Arthur was born to a British father too.

When one requests their COLB from HI the only option available is the short form which Obama then posted. Afterwards both FactCheck (run by the Annenberg School of Public Policy at UPenn which is not affiliated with the Chicago Annenberg Challenge though birthers will tell you that they are) and Politifact (rin by the St. Petersburg Times) physically inspected the documents as provided by the Obama campaign and took pictures.
Birthers claim the posted COLB is a fake based on the anonymous postings of two self proclaimed experts. One claims a PhD in a dscipline that does not exist. The other was exposed for having wholesale lifted his credentials from another.

1) The law you cite for his mother’s age to pass citizenship does not apply. His mother did not need to be 19 because the current law was made retroactive to anyone born on or after December 24, 1952.
2) It doesn’t matter if his father was born on Mars. Only one parent has to be a citizen.
3) No where in the law does it say both parents must be natural born citizens. You can’t just make up nonsense to suit your purposes.

It seems that Eric Swafford took his oath seriously, and refuses to turn his back on an issue as others have. This issue is so silly, just for the simple fact that it can be solved by one person saying “Release the Documents”.
Barack Obama Jr.’s mother, Ann Dunham, married Lolo Soetoro, a citizen of Indonesia. Lolo Soetoro legally acknowledged Barack H. Obama, Jr. et al. as his son and/or adopted him.
While Ann Dunham (Soetoro) aka Stanley Ann Soetoro was married to Lolo Soertoro, Barack Obama Jr. was enrolled in the public school in Indonesia as Barry Soetoro, an Indonesian citizen.
Kenyan Officials with the Provincial Civil Registrar stated there were records of Ann Dunham giving birth to Barack Hussein Obama, III in Mombosa , Kenya on August 4, 1961 and confirmed the birthing records of Barack H. Obama, Jr. and his mother were present, however, the file on Barack H. Obama, Jr. was classified and profiled. The Official explained Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. birth in Kenya is top secret.
Just show the proper paperwork….simple… if a NB citizen of the US great if not than bow out and lets get on with getting this country back into shape.

Hey, Cranky…you forgot to read your own law…
Obama’s scenario can be analyzed as follows:
(a) it doesn’t fit. He wasn’t born here.
(b) it doesn’t fit. He wasn’t born here.
(c) it doesn’t fit again. This is where the law DOES state that the person is born to parents “BOTH OF WHOM” are American citizens, contrary to your misreading of the plain language of the law.
(d) it doesn’t fit. Even though he does have one parent who is a citizen, the other is not a national, as required in this part.
(e) this one doesn’t fit either. It might fit, except that his mother wasn’t physically present in the US for one continuous year prior to his birth
(f) not this one, either. He is not of “unknown parentage” nor was he “found” here.
(g) I think we found the one that applies: Obama is (1) a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions, he was born (2) of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States. However, here is where he doesn’t meet the criteria: his mother “prior to the birth of such person {Obama}:, must have been “physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years.” She didn’t spend enough time physically in the US or its outlying possessions to fit the criteria. That’s where the problem lies for Obama.
Unless, that is, he was actually born here, which is also not proven, and disputed by people who claim to be eyewitnesses to his foreign birth. His birth record does not prove where he was born, as Hawaii will issue certificates of live birth even for children not born in Hawaii.
Get it now? Sheesh.
And to whomever thinks McCain wasn’t a NBCitizen until Congress said so, you’re wrong. Congress RECOGNIZED his citizenship, they didn’t CREATE it with that resolution {S.Res. 511, which, FYI, was co-sponsored by Hillary Clinton}. Furthermore, He actually meets the criteria of (c), not to mention that he was born on the First Congress, on March 26, 1790, approved an act that declared, “The children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond sea, or outside the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural-born citizens of the United States.” That would seem to include McCain, whose parents were both US citizens. And the physical presence requirement, as stated in the law, is met while serving in the armed forces, which his father was doing in Panama.
