No word on how I did in the Oscars pool. No, I didn’t remember who I picked. What part of “I completely guessed” don’t you understand? I could barely remember how I might have picked even while watching. But what a touching acceptance speech by some guy on behalf of the movie Milk. I haven’t seen it, but I guess I should before the entire LGBT sandwhich revokes my membership card.
Here’s what some area bloggers are saying about the 81st Annual Academy Awards:
I thought this was the best Oscar night we’ve seen in a long time. Who knew Sophia Loren was still with us?? Kate Winslet won Best Actress. And she did it with grace and beauty, observing that all the other nominated goddesses were awesome. The Slumdog cast took Best Movie and 7 other Oscars. It felt like a new movie every time they came on stage. Sean Penn won Best Actor for MILK. And just like he always does, Sean Penn stood up for justice. He deserves to win every year, in my totally objective non-biased opinion!
Kate Winslet-Getty ImagesI truly enjoyed tonight’s 2009 Academy Awards show. I thought Hugh Jackman did a fantastic job hosting, and I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing him back in years to come. I would, however, recommend that if he does, they should do some type of dance sequence wherein he has to take off his shirt. Now, that would be fabulous!
Miley Cyrus told ABC on the Oscars red carpet show that she hopes to come back next year to pick up a trophy for her movie version of Hannah Montana, out April 10.
“I can’t wait, and hopefully, I’ll be here getting something for it next year,” Miley said.
‘Man on Wire’ is just exhilirating; so was the announcement of its taking Best Documentary; so was Philippe Petit’s wonderful little moment of magic…he’s a jester, and he’s a magician, and he’s an artist.
With everyone getting ready for tonight’s Oscars, let’s not forget the best ever Oscar moment to those of us who live in Tennessee. I can only be talking about how Memphis hip-hop group won an Oscar for “It’s Hard Out There For a Pimp” and subsequently gave the most entertaining acceptance speech in what was otherwise an incredibly boring evening. The speech comes in around 5:45:
My boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel brought up a really good point last night on his Post-Oscar broadcast…they brought those kids that were in Slumdog Millionaire to Hollywood for the ceremony but can you imagine how hard it will be for them to return after that????
