catoxygen2Yeah. I’m one of those people that wouldn’t mind a few more of these kind of news stories.

Firefighters were called to the duplex on Illinois Avenue shortly after 8 a.m. amid reports of heavy smoke.

While no one was home at the time, at least two cats were inside.

“When [the firefighters] made entry, the cats came out, one of the cats took off on the guys, the other was sort of woozy and one had smoke inhalation.  Our paramedics gave it some oxygen treatment,” explained District Fire Chief Ricky Taylor.

He said the duplex sustained “quite a bit of damage” but it was confined to the right rear portion.
