A Simple Glaze Can Make A Huge Difference
This is Jared Crenshaw with Mojo Faux Finishes. Recently my wife, Ande, was on Channel 4 on the More At Midday Show. The focus was on adding glaze to your cabinets to give them an update. Many people don't know it, but if you want kitchen cabinets and don't want to spend a huge amount of money you can put a little glaze on them. There are a few things you need to make sure of before you do this. Things to consider include:
1) Are my existing kitchen cabinets in good enough shape to update? The answer is almost always "YES".
2) Do my kitchen cabinets have a base coat that I can paint over? Depending on the shape of them it might require roughing them up with some sandpaper.
3) What colors do I want to use? There are so many websites out there (uhhh, uhh, www.mojofaux.com is a really good one!) where you can get ideas.
4) Consider what you are going to be doing with your home in light of making changes to your kitchen cabinets. Ask yourself, "Am I planning to stay here a while or sell in a few year". This definitely has bearing on what you do with your cabinets.
These are the most important aspects in considering glazing your cabinets. If you need any help or have questions please feel free to get in touch with me.
Thanks,
Jared
