John McCain's moment in history

What is he thinking

OK, so John McCain was rudely interrupted by protestors last night as he accepted his party's nomination. It's a shame because this is McCain's moment, and despite what you think about his record, he's earned it.

And yes his speech totally sucked, but you know what? I love John McCain. This man is a true American hero, and he will always be a hero to me. If you asked me before this weekend to name a single living American I could look up to as a hero I honestly believe it would take me a while to name anyone... until now.

I personally believe John McCain's life story is the story of America. It's a shame his own party denied him for so long a moment to lead. He will be remembered in history, and if it's for being our next president I believe that would not be such a bad thing. That is if he doesn't die and Sarah Palin becomes President. And that's the challenge facing the McCain campaign.

How does the McCain campaign convince Americans that might be undecided, who are independent, or who are looking for a president with a history and desire to stick it to his own party's hard core partisans when the person in the Vice Presidential slot is someone even Karl Rove argues isn't at all qualified to lead our country?

Here's what the Nashville area Twitterati had to say about John McCain's acceptance speech:

Protesters

I didn't watch last night's speech because Matlock was on but what's funny is you are doing exactly what they want you to. Lefty blogs were tipped off by the Obama campaign by text messages so the Republicans wouldn't know. Where did these pictures come from? The left will do anything to tear down America and John McCain. This story is going no where and Barack Obama's fingerprints are all over this one. Not one channel mentioned it but the left is talking all about it on the blogs. I hope FOX or somebody investigates it and gets people fired over it. What a shame on America.
