Rocking 3rd place!
As many of you have blogged over the past year and a half, the Deuce has gone through a lot of changes. We lost a lot of very talented people due to cuts yet soldier on despite many challenges facing broadcasters.
The broadcast industry as a whole continues to show a decline in viewership, but something interesting happened at the Deuce over the past year.
On a year-to-year basis (ratings November '07 compared with November '08) News 2 viewership is up in every newscast, with the exception of the 10pm which was dramatically impacted by a lackluster ABC lead-in. Channel 4 and Channel 5 declined in ratings for every newscast that goes head to head with News 2.
Yes, we're still in 3rd place, but we're rocking 3rd place. Here's a few quick notes (percentages reflect total households) on the news:
- News 2 This Morning beat Channel 4 from 5am – 6am and ratings are up 27% from last November.
- News 2 This Morning from 6am – 7am is up 28% in ratings since last November.
- Ratings for News 2 at 4, 5, & 6 have all grown since last November.
- News 2 at 6 ratings are up 22% and a whopping 25% in share from a year ago.
- Despite a 37% decline in our 9p – 10p ABC lead in, the 10P news lost only 3% in ratings from one year ago.

???
What the hell are they showing at ABC these days that few want to watch? That's just ugly.
