This post over at Pith reminds me of the stupid, puritanical nonsense we have here in Nashville that strippers have to stay three feet away from you (or visa versa), thus ending, for all practical purposes, the lap dance.

What If?: The Bailout Version

I've been pretty adamant in my stance that something must be done in order to avoid the possibility of a credit crunch. The mortgage backed securities that are now held by banks are drowning them. Many of them were purchased in good, or at least optimistic, faith, but they can't be off-loaded now.

The deal itself is a creative solution to what has been an intractable problem.

"But it also raises serious questions about whether the District would be inappropriately-- and unconstitutionally -- subsidizing the mission's faith-based programs, including worship services and faith-based counseling offered at its shelters."

The City Paper cannot wait to pave over Bells Bend and they want to sell you their heart-tugging phantasm sans the slippery slope that leads to the development of every square inch of rural greenspace that doesn't sit on flood plain. It still looks like a MetroCenter do-over to me.

First Tasering, now drugging of "unruly" people. Sounds like we have gone from bad to worse.

There are so many problems with using a drug to "subdue" an "unruly" person I don't know where to begin. Perhaps most importantly, who defines what "unruly" means and how do they arrive at that decision?

There’s some good discussion over at SayUncle about whether or not it’s justifiable to classify “hate crimes” as a separate class of crimes over and above just ordinary assault/murder/vandalism/whatever. Go check it out.

Maybe it’s just me, but I see a constant erosion of civil liberties. What’s even more sad, is that people don’t understand what their right actually are, or what they mean. I am willing to bet $100 more than half the people in this town alone couldn’t tell you what the U.S. Constitution, The Bill of Rights, or what even one of the amendments say or mean.

Yes, another post that is not in keeping with the point of my blog. But in case you really want to know what I ate today, I will tell you. A banana, a Gardenburger with lettuce and tomato with a side of Kashi crackers. Then some cookies and then a movie-theater-size box of Raisinets. And then I polished off a bag of Santitas before yoga. It's a slippery slope over to the dark side.
