One of the local races here in Campbell County that drew a lot of attention in recent weeks was the contest between incumbent Road Superintendent Dennis Potter and challenger Gary Leach. Leach aired some rather interesting radio commercials that basically called Potter a sexual deviant and claimed he wouldn’t use the office “to fulfill my sexual fantasies”.

With about a quarter of the votes counted, incumbent Chip Baker leads challenger Joe Dumas by a mere 40 votes, 678-638. Obviously this is what Chuck Todd would label "too early to call," but it could be the best race of the night to watch. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: with 40% in, Dumas takes the lead by approximately 53% to Baker's 47%.
