Well, I fell asleep on the couch last night at the halfway point in the Great Debate. The half that I saw did not impress me for either candidate, but impressed me less for the debate format itself. I credit Jim Lehrer for trying to get the two candidates to mix it up some, but the format of the debate does not lend itself to what Lehrer was trying to get them to do. Why?

Pat Buchanan thinks so:

For, without any visible strategy for victory, Barack is recommending the same course LBJ took after the death of JFK. Johnson bombed North Vietnam in 1964, landed Marines in 1965 and built U.S. forces from 16,000 advisers on Nov. 22, 1963, to 525,000 troops in January of 1969.

Some have recently pondered the origin of inspiration for Barack Obama’s recent speeches.  Some have said he draws from JFK, others cite Reagan, and still others say MLK.

Lufthansa has an amusing (though logo-filled) Flash game on their Web site: You get a map of North America and Europe, and a graphic of a Lufthansa aircraft flying from JFK to somewhere across the Atlantic. The name of the destination city flashes on the screen and you have a few seconds to click on the appropriate location for the plane to land before it crashes.
