In a day full of surprises, Democrats got one more in that Barack Obama showed up in the arena.

Today you’ll encounter a new byline on Bites, as Nicki Wood joins us as a regular contributor. Of course, Nicki’s byline isn’t new to food journalism. She was a longtime food critic for the Nashville Banner (may it rest in peace) and has contributed to the Scene and Fine Cooking, among other publications.

Up on the town website they have posted the fee schedule for the town of Smyrna. Everything from impact fees to court cost and green fees are included. Most are straight forward and easy to understand, but one item seemed odd.

Yes, I know two games are in the books, but I’m not modifying my predictions based on those results, and I didn’t see any of the games.

I know, the games have started, but I haven’t looked at the scores.
