I was helping my sister out at her store many years back when an employee and I started talking about classic movies. One thing lead to another and I said "I bet I could eat 50 eggs in an hour". Impossible he said. other friends, employees and family members in the area quickly jumped in on both sides. Yes!, No!

Way back when, I learned that most airlines use what’s referred to as the “Great Circle Route” when going from one side of the globe to another. It seems that, if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s shorter to fly from Moscow to New York by flying almost due North over the North Pole. Actually, flying from Moscow to anywhere in the U.S.

According to the latest meme going around Right Blogistan, if Palin does poorly in the debate Thursday night, it won’t be because she doesn’t know what the [bleep] she’s talking about, but because moderator Gwen Ifill is unfarily biased against her.

On Labor Day this year Jim and I left Nashville at 6:15 am to fly to Washington, DC. I was to attend a meeting of the National Fraternal Congress of America Thursday through Saturday. We flew up early in order to see some of the city. On a visit in 2000 we had seen the Smithsonian Zoological Park and taken a wonderful tour of Arlington National Cemetery and all of the war memorials at that time.

This morning I headed an hour East to one of my favorite places to spend an early morning. I took a few pictures for you that I posted below.
