The original Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was written in 1892 by a Baptist who also happened to be a Christian Socialist. The original did not include the words "under God" after "One nation." I prefer the original wording and intention of the Pledge when I recite it.

In his column today, “Socialism? It is already here”, George Will makes the point that spreading the wealth is nothing new. That is what any government action does that takes money from some people and gives it to others.

“He's called me a socialist for wanting to roll back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans so we can finally give tax relief to the middle class. I don't know what's next,” Obama said at a rally at the Halifax mall here.

Barack Obama recently attempted to deflect McCain’s accusations of socialistic policies under an Obama Administration - to no avail (I hope). He questioned whether sharing his toys or his peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as a child revealed similar socialistic tendancies. Good one, Barry-O, but that’s entirely misleading and intellectually dishonest.
