I heard something yesterday regarding some of the ill-considered policies of George W. Bush, all the Leftish ideas that were intended--at best, as efforts to reach across the aisle, or--at worst, as coalition builders: NCLB, Medicare prescription coverage, absolving more and more Americans from paying taxes.

Why do those commercials show people smiling in slow-motion? Very annoying.

Also annoying:

She's got no where to go but up. The press has lowered expectations for two days. The McCain campaign has worked the delegates into a lather over her. As a former sports anchor, she learned a long time ago how to use a teleprompter and she has the poise of a beauty pageant contestant. She'll plug into the "every (wo)man" sensibilities that Republicans must have to win.

I do see these tips:

Meanwhile two simple tips you should always remember are to lather up on a lot of sunscreen and keep hydrated with water.

The new issue of EW is in high lather about–oh noes!–the Oscars being cancelled.   I guess since the Golden Globes (i.e. the most glitzy press conference ever) were shuttered by the WGA strike, the chances of No Oscars For The First Time EVAH!!! is weighing heavily on the hearts and minds of people who care about such things.
