five minutes

It’s 8:04 am in downtown, sunny, Seattle. WA. I am about to embark on my foot journey back to the Bell Harbour Conference Centre for Day Two of Gnomedex. Wow, it’s been a fantastic conference which really is no surprise.

And that makes me very sad.

All of last week, when I was out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, I got a little agitated that I couldn't check my email on my phone every five minutes, and even more so during the brouhahas over the Tennessee primaries and the John Edwards scandal.

So I ranted and raved on Monday about the homeowners’ association. Thursday I ranted and raved about the police going on private properties to respond to alarm calls and then shooting “threatening” dogs once they got there.

Living with an elderly cat in decline has certainly become a challenge lately. Of course, there’s also the fact that I have two more elderly cats who are doing okay for now, but Schuyler, my black cat, is presenting all kinds of new challenges lately.

Last week was a grief-filled one for my hometown. First came the death of a kid who graduated a year or two ago and had been battling leukemia; soon after, a man who worked for the school (and a family friend) died from cancer. He was in his early 30s.

Disk golf is played like regular golf. The players proceed through a course. This means that, if you see me standing in the middle of the field where you plan to have cheerleading practice 10 or 15 minutes from now, it shouldn't concern you in the slightest. Five minutes from now, I will be long gone, whether you say anything to me or not. That's the nature of the game.
