hot day

Gustav is barreling his way toward the Louisiana Gulf Coast.  Mandatory evacuations for the city of New Orleans started about 30 minutes ago.  Some good news is Gustav has weakened some.  Will he continue to weaken?  That is anyone's guess at this point.

I picked up some good stuff at the library today. Like any good idiot, I walked there on a hot day in jeans and a long-sleeved black dress shirt. The walk to the library wasn't too bad, but returning home resulted in a very sweaty self. (I guess the books I returned weren't as heavy as the books I checked out.)

Nothing goes together better than sunshine and indie rock, right? OK, nothing goes together better than expensive hotels and broke-ass rock bands, right?

Really, nothing goes together better than free stuff and local music fans.

Another hot day ahead for us. We'll also have winds gusting, at times, to 25 miles per hour. The rest of the week looks pretty much the same!

I have taken something like 239 pictures since Friday. Here’s a sample of a few of the sights and sounds of the last few days…

Baseball ... serves the same purpose as a revolution in Central America or a thunderstorm on a hot day ... A tonic, an exercise, baseball is second only to Death as a leveler. So long as it remains our national game, America will abide no monarchy, and anarchy will be too slow.
