Here's the (late) edition of the weekly best of Tennessee blogs via TennViews. I was especially honored to have my weekly movie feature Camera Obscura honored with some linkage. And a big woot! for Cormac McCarthy and the Coens.

Some locals are getting an Oscar nod. This from Jim Ridley at Pith in the Wind:

Getting upset about the Academy Awards is like complaining about the weather. Only weather can be explained by logic—unlike, say, the omission of the year's most striking original score from this morning's nominations on a flimsy technicality.

I knew when I saw the title of Cormac McCarthy's book No Country for Old Men that I had to read it.  And so I did.  McCarthy usually isn't an easy read for me.  I'm not sure why but he isn't.  And I've purposely not read his newest The Road because the premise is just too bleak for me.  But when I found out the Coen brothers were doing NCFOM I knew I would have to see it.
