Actually, It's in That Oil Marketer's Best Interest to Tell Us That It's in the Retailers' Best Interest to Keep Oil Prices Low

With Ike barreling at Texas coast oil fields, a Tennessee Oil Marketer Association spokesperson is quoted as saying that it's in the best interest of retailers to "keep prices low" so that people buy more gas. But notice that he does not say how low. Does he mean as low as $4 per gallon? Or $3?

Now that the United States manufacturing base has eroded to next to nothing, and with the sharp spikes in the price of commodity items (owing largely to the fact that these are priced in heavily devalued dollars in commodity markets), the latest economic crisis is causing acute pain in the service industry.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that robberies are up; this kind of crime almost always increases when the economy tanks - people get desperate and look for a way to add some dollars to their pocket - any way.

I make it a point to go out to lunch every day.  I've done so for many years.  It serves two purposes.  One is that I can have a better variety of places and types of food to eat and the other is it gets me off campus for a little while.  Both of those things are good things.  Therefore since my early January arrival on my new campus I've been heading out for lunch on a daily basis.
