You’ve all seen it, probably. A caricature of an old Southern man wearing a confederate uniform (a uniform astonishingly better kept than any real confederate wore, except Marse Robert), spouting those words. It’s supposedly a symbol of the South in some way. Like all symbols, it’s part truth and part lie.

When I first heard that Barack Obama's prayer at the Western Wall had been retrieved and published, I was somewhat upset at the classlessness of the Jerusalem newspaper, Ma'ariv, that did so. Then I learned that someone had retrieved that prayer note and had, apparently, given it to Ma;ariv.

Where are all those liberal Tennessee bloggers who gave me hell in February of 2007 for my article on the amount of yellowcake being stored in Iraq?  I didn’t see any posts jumping on the AP.   Where are you folks? I’m waiting.  And the AP doesn’t even mention the UF4 (green salt), the same green salt that has drawn the attention of the IAEA in Iran’s program.

I’ve got the trailer pulled up at the back of the house, and I’ve loaded about a dozen trips worth of drywall remnant. The goal is to be at the dump sometime early this afternoon and be rid of this junk.

Ancient peoples needed religion to survive. As modern people, we do not. But we still think we do. This is why some people are willing to fight to the death over their religious convictions. The religious beliefs become entwined with the concept of “self”, or that which must survive. Even many less zealous believers will experience real displeasure to one degree or another when confronted with opposing idea
