Three men -- each a community leader in his own right -- have qualified for the special election being held on November 4 in Chattanooga's 5th Council District. While your Ticketeer is not a resident of District 5, I have been asked to moderate a Brainerd candidate forum in about a month, and so it goes without saying that I will stay neutral in this race.

This morning Mr. Beale and I headed out for a late breakfast at a local eatery not too far from the house. Who is sitting behind us but Sen. Bob Corker, dining with what appeared to be a staffer. Plenty of folks were stopping by his table to say hello, so when we had finished our meal and I saw the senator was still there, I screwed up my courage to do likewise.

Why on earth Lieberman caucuses with the Democrats is beyond me. He's a turncoat who has gone beyond his typical self righteous indignation to fear mongering, taking pages right out of the Karl Rove/Dick Cheney/W. Bush play book.

Lieberman is yet another reason we have to send more Democrats to the Senate, starting with Tennessee.
