During the past week, when people have asked how things have been going, I reply with my usual, "Great!" and then proceed to discuss how I've got a full plate of speaking gigs.

The NY Times article on readjusting globalization that I quoted earlier today referenced the economist idea of "the neighborhood effect," which is reducing transportation costs by moving industry closer to component suppliers and to target consumers.

When we were in the process of selling our business our attorney did a wonderful job of preparing us for much of what was ahead of us. One of the things he mentioned more than once was that we should be prepared for seller's remorse.

A NY Times article pointed out the fact that while Fox News is still #1, it’s growth is declining while other networks are advancing in viewership at a much faster rate:

Last year’s Justice Day on the Hill was critical in the passage of Senate Bill 1911—a bill to create the Committee to Study the Administration of the Death Penalty.

Blue-collar jobs are disappearing, and workers that used to be able to make ends meet are replacing their jobs at half the wages. But, that’s not all. Because wages have decreased so dramatically for many people, and they are no longer able to pay their mortgages and feed their families, they are moving in with their parents, grandparents or other relatives.

Something's going on in Vegas, and it's not staying there, to be sure.
