On Tuesday, Gresham rallied in Selmer with Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour. Her campaign billed the event as a portent of a partnership between the two Republicans that, if she’s elected, could benefit the largely Mississippi-bordering district.

Bad news: Tom Brokaw will be asking them.

Lynn Sweet reported yesterday that the two campaigns had reached an agreement under which, among other things, moderator Tom Brokaw wouldn’t ask follow-up questions tonight.

Mission accomplished.   McCain and the GOP have scuttled the agreement said to have been reached this morning.  McCain will likely be able to duck the debate.

John McCain has made a surprising pick for VP:

I don’t know exactly who you are. I suspect you might be a campaign official or an intern or just a garden-variety wiseass.

But I’m now the proud recepient of an email routed to me which claims that Barack Obama is Satan’s right hand and has a tattoo depicting America’s destruction by nuclear attack stenciled on his left buttcheek. Or something.

Bob Krumm is glad that the debate field has finally been pared down. I am a political person - I enjoy following the process, and on an occasion here and there, getting involved in it. I too have gotten a bit tired of the marginal candidates getting equal air time (and where the heck did Alan Keyes come from in that last debate??). It’s certainly a fair conclusion that now is the time to deal only with those who stand
