We've all heard the old adage, "The book is always better" (to which I add the caveat: if it came first and isn't a novelization based on the script).

Two movies I've seen lately only confirmed this for me. And the shame of it is that I was really looking forward to seeing both.

The military serves a couple of important functions in our culture, aside from the ones it’s officially charged with.  One is giving poor folks a way of seeing the country and the world and encountering a lot of different people and cultures and the other is revealing stupid bull[bleep] between groups in our own society for what they are.

My phone still takes pictures, but refuses–as a part of its long disintegration into ruin–to send them.  So, I took this picture with the Butcher’s phone, and holy Sweet Jesus, does his phone take [bleep]ty, [bleep]ty pictures.
