It seems to me things are getting better. I can see more gas stations are open for business, though prices are still around $4/gallon. I still haven’t needed to fill up, but I’m below 1/4 tank and will need to next week.

Tonight, I passed six gas stations in Bellevue. One had gas; another had the lowest octane gas; the others were on empty. My tank still has just under 3/5 of a tank.

I had to pick up some medications for the dog this morning, so I drove my car to work. I passed five gas stations in Bellevue - all without gasoline. The Exxon across the street from my office has gas. The cars resemble vultures circling a fresh kill.

Here in Missour-ah, the price of gas has gone up somewhat in the last few days, but there's been nothing quite like the Great Gas Crisis that I hear is occurring in Nashville right now.

As I came about a little under ten years after the 1973 oil crisis, this week has been a rare glimpse into what it must have been like to watch lines que at gas stations, with many simply shutting off their pumps.

It is starting to get a little frightening. Very few gas stations had operating pumps along West End Avenue from the Centennial Park area to Bellevue. I think I saw one with cars lined up for gas during the bus ride home. The bus was packed. It was SRO when I got on the bus.

The news headlines are full of the current gasoline shortage, here in Middle Tennessee, with pictures of gas stations desolate, and barren, or with lines stretching off into the distance.  Why is this crisis striking Middle Tennessee, but not Birmingham, or Huntsville, or Atlanta?
