This debate was even more drab than the first McCain-Obama debate. The rules of this debate kept everything too short, curbed exchanges, and broke down by the end of the thing.

Bad news: Tom Brokaw will be asking them.

Lynn Sweet reported yesterday that the two campaigns had reached an agreement under which, among other things, moderator Tom Brokaw wouldn’t ask follow-up questions tonight.

There's a joke about a fellow falling off the roof of enormous skyscraper and on his way down, a person jams his head out of a 21st story window and yells out a question to the falling man "Are you all right?"

The man replies "So far, so good!!"

"...we may be confronting the first global recession since the early '90s."

Some time ago, when the economy really started tanking, I had a commenter who repeatedly tried to convince me with all these crazy rightwing talking point (Johnny McCranky could've taken some lessons from this guy), that the "economy was fundamentally strong" and we were nowhere near a recession.

The good news: Nashville has no where to go but up.

The bad news: Salt Lake City is more single-friendly than Music City. Mormons apparently munch on more love newtons than Southern Baptists do.
