I want to say a big THANK YOU to all the people who supported my run for office this year. All the people who voted, volunteered, called radio shows, put up signs, donated funds, wrote letters, called or wrote friends and colleagues, posted or commented on blogs and on news stories, called and offered support.

I was at the Election Commission on Wednesday, picking up a stack of maps to hand hapless voters who might show up at the Brainerd early voting location, and the place sure was busy.

By default -- as set up by our webmasters in Missouri -- our site allows comments on news stories and on blog entries, but not on anything that's posted as an opinion column. Today, I had two different co-workers ask me why. I couldn't tell them; I don't know. I'll ask our webmasters about it the next time I get in touch with them...

Odd to hear that from a journalist. I spend about 5-8 hours a day combing the Internet for news stories, and frankly, most of it is just so sad or bad, we all need a break from it.
