Coney Island amusement park has opened a waterboarding “attraction”:

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A man with a black hood pours water on the face of a prisoner in an orange jumpsuit strapped to a table: no, it's not Guantanamo Bay naval base, but New York's Coney Island amusement park.

Not since the Tinky Winky and SpongeBob SquarePants scandals has the world of children's entertainment been rocked by such controversy. If the Christian fundamentalists weren't pleased when NBC removed religious references in VeggieTales, the following revelation is sure to have them beating their Bibles: Larry the Cucumber and Bob the Tomato are actually big ol' fruits!

It was apparently made for an animation awards ceremony; it features familiar clips from “Casablanca,” “Singin’ In The Rain” and “The Godfather” as overdubbed by the voice cast of “Spongebob Squarepants,” to humorous effect:

Often, when nothing else is on television, I’ll turn to Nickelodeon. (I’d like to think that I do this for the kids’ sake. I’d also like to think that I could turn off the television when nothing is on. Alas, that is not the case, and I cannot, respectively.)
