I have a hot date today with a mother of three who needs to get out of the house.  She wants to see a movie.  She wants to see Get Smart but I’m not so sure.  And then there’s Hancock, which (don’t spoil it for me) apparently takes a hard left halfway through and leaves half the crowd booing and half the crowd cheering.  Not sure which half we’ll be in and I hate to was

The Dog Days of Summer event hosted by Slow Food Nashville last night in East Nashville was a humongous success for everyone...except me. I got to I Dream of Weenie on Woodland at 6 p.m. and waited in line 20 minutes before getting the announcement that the big attraction—City House chef Tandy Wilson's homemade hot dogs—had run out.

When I was 18 and freshly into Tennessee, a good friend of mine talked me into getting a tattoo. I know, not a good thing to let someone talk you into. I suppose it seemed like a good idea at the time, but 10 years later, not so much. I don’t regret the act of getting the tattoo, but I do regret what the tattoo is.

  • Ok, the Bud Light makes you breathe fire commercial was awesome.
  • The Audi/Godfather commercial was pretty dern good, too.

Well, that was unrealistic. With a baby, I can’t expect to have two free hands all of the time!  But I do remember liking:

  • The screaming squirrel commercial (tires)
  • The Angelina Jolie movie
  • The carrier pigeons commercial
  • Iron Giant

So far, I approve. I just wish Eli hadn’t throw

Say Uncle on the benefits of energy independence:

I mean, without a heavy need for oil, the world would treat the middle east like it does Africa. Which is to say that, generally, no one except Bono and Angelina Jolie would give a damn about it. Think that’s harsh? Not paying attention, then.

I’m torn

So, Insty notes this really cool plan to get the US less dependent on foreign oil. It involves requiring (for about $100) new cars to be flex fuel vehicles. I’m torn because, well, it’s a good idea. But at the same time it makes my libertarianish side want to smack me about the head and neck area what with its free market idealism and all. The benefit of energy dependence is huge. I mean, without a heavy need for oil

Rick Flair told me to vote for Huckabee, so did Chuck Norris.

Wilford Brimley told me to vote for McCain, Saturday night live guy Lorne Michaels too

John Voight said Giulliani, So did Adam Sandler and Ben Stein. Ben Stein is probably the most disingenuous person on earth, so that one fits, and now you know why John Voight and daughter Angelina Jolie don't speak to each other.
