Another person methadone has saved from a life of hell, although I would add that three months into the program is barely enough to return to "normal" thought processing.

I never got had much faith in the 12-stepper stuff. I'm not knocking it; the program has helped zillions of folks get a grip on their addictions, but I couldn't get behind the "higher power" philosophy, no matter how they tried to open it to include any God-figure.

As most folks on the street know, I've been down and out now for the past two weeks, dealing with a vicious pneumonia that came with the flu I contracted. It has knocked me for a loop, wiped my energy almost completely out and left me barely able to work a full day without collapsing at the end of it in a heap of gasping, exhausted jelly.

Last Wednesday I was helping a client get some stuff moved and tweaked my sciatica bending and lifting something heavy. By Friday it ached enough that I felt I needed to see my doc and maybe get some kind of hardcore anti inflammatory to treat the pain and inflammation.
