The Tennessee Highway Patrol now says it won't release the list of 182 targets of the unauthorized criminal background checks run by Lt Ronnie Shirley, the trooper with ties to the Bredesen administration. The THP's rationale: it claims the list is "evidence" in a possible criminal case.

Bertelsmann Reports 2007 Earnings, BMG Down

Bertelsmann reported its 2007 earnings yesterday. For the year, BMG revenues declined by 27.8% to €1.5 billion and operating EBITA (basically operating profit) dropped 46% to €93 million. Physical revenues dropped 17% while digital increased 40%. Digital accounted for 17% of BMG's revenue (up from 12% in 2006).

John McCain and Barack Obama have taken heat lately over endorsements from individuals whose proclamations some find offensive. Do endorsements really make that much difference, as long as any candidate doesn't agree with all facets of the endorser's message or let that endorser influence their thoughts?...
