In a letter to the editor of the Jackson Sun Governor Phil Bredesen and the head of the Department of Economic and Community Development, Matt Kisber, received praise for their work to bring the $1 billion dollar and 2,000 plus Volkswagen investment to Chattanooga.

Bloomberg interviews Volkswagen of America CEO Stefan Jacoby on the day he announced Volkswagen would build a new plant in Chattanooga. Clips from the interview will no doubt appear in future state of Tennessee economic development advertising.

Yesterday, the State of Tennessee welcomed Volkswagen to the growing list of major automobile manufacturers located here (Saturn and Nissan also have major operations in the state), as the German automaker announced that it will locate one of its manufacturing operations in Chattanooga (story here).

Several areas across the great state of Tennessee have seen big thunderstorms today. Areas to my north in Clay and Macon Counties have seen up to 3" of rainfall. It seems that Middle and West Tennessee are seeing the big storms now.
