As a veteran (Desert Storm) myself, I get cranky when Democrats tuck tail on issues related to the military. As Brandon Friedman states eloquently on the Vote Vets blog, there is no reason to cede authority on military matters just because of John McCain's service during Vietnam.

While Mike Padgett may have ever so slightly higher name recognition than Bob Tuke according to one Republican poll, it appears that the former Democratic Party Chair has higher name-id outside of Tennessee.

Wesley Clark, a Four-Star General (ret.), was the Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO from 1997 to 2000 and a Democratic candidate for President in 2004.
