Last weekend while Gustav roared toward South Louisiana land fall and hundreds of thousands of evacuees were beating hasty retreats from the Gulf Coast, Republican delegates attended lavish, million dollar parties sponsored by lobbyists. Some who were caught on camera covered their faces with the pink boa party favors to avoid public scrutiny. Here's the ABCNews report:

As I stated earlier, several crimes committed in and around MTSU have been perpetuated by refugees who fled the Gulf Coast in search of safety from Hurricane Gustav.

It should be noted that these individuals make up only a small percentage of those who are here from the Gulf; it is by no means representative of the entire group.

Over the past few days, I have reflected on the generosity and kindness of others. Most noticeably, Americans have dug deep into their pockets to help out the people of coastal Louisiana and Mississippi on two seperate occasions recently - in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina and just a few days ago in the wake of Hurricane Gustav.
