SNEEDVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Angela Tuttle has been elected constable in Hancock County by a single vote - her own.

Tuttle told the Citizen Tribune newspaper in Morristown that her father, a former constable, encouraged her to run as a write-in candidate for the county post.

On June 26, I attended a candidate forum presented by the Hamilton County Voters Council and Court Watch Partners, with additional sponsorship from the Chattanooga Neighborhood Association Council (CNAC). All four candidates who will be on the August 7 ballot for Hamilton County Sheriff were there, and a write-in candidate also briefly appeared, as sort of a surprise guest.

While I’m signing in and having my ID checked, the man in line behind me says to the woman at the same desk, “I’m a write-in candidate for [local office]. How do I write my name in?”
