Way back when, I learned that most airlines use what’s referred to as the “Great Circle Route” when going from one side of the globe to another. It seems that, if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s shorter to fly from Moscow to New York by flying almost due North over the North Pole. Actually, flying from Moscow to anywhere in the U.S.

I'm beginning to think this whole stunt by McCain was implemented to delay next Thursday's debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin. After reading this transcript with Katie Couric, I have no doubt.
