A couple of years ago the University of Chicago lost its exclusive no bid contracts for two famous national labs when the Energy Department decided to open the bidding process to private companies.  Did U. of C.

John Fund had a piece out a few days ago that we talked about on the radio and I wanted to get it up on the blog. The article regards the special election for the Congressional seat previously held by Dennis Hastert (R).

If “losing Hastert’s seat is like the toppling of the Saddam statue in Baghdad,” then it looks like the win for newcomer Democrat Bill Foster to Illinois’ 4th congressional district is the heroes’ welcome for Democrats looking to change current management of important issues– the war in Iraq, the economy, and congressional ethics among many other things.

A longtime Republican district fell to the Democrats Saturday when a scientist snatched former House Speaker Dennis Hastert’s congressional seat in a closely watched special election.
