Ok, let's talk about today's weather.  The result, while disappointing to a lot of us, was right on track to what the National Weather Service had predicted.   I have the benefit of being able to 'look back' on their forecasts..here is what it said for today..Monday, December 1st, 2008 for right here in Cookeville, TN.

The dog and I are about to get in the car and go for a long, meandering ride culminating in a very, very short walk.

It's that time of year when it's time to give credit where credit is due. After being bedridden for 5 1/2 months, I've watched a lot of TV. In fact, I'm currently engrossed in a Trading Spouses marathon. It's a real eye opener.

There are not many things I miss about New York. I fell in love with Nashville and middle Tennessee shortly after moving here, and getting over the culture shock. For example, if you are walking on a downtown street in Nashville, and make eye contact with a stranger, said stranger will smile and or say hello to you.

From Tom Jester:

We hear the phrase "peace on earth" so much this time of year that it almost doesn't mean anything any more. I did this video to make "peace on earth" mean something other than absence of war. It's what peace on earth really looks like and where you can find it: Cades Cove and the Great Smoky Mountains.

We wake up to very chilly temperatures this morning across Tennessee.  At 6:00 am, lows range from 17° in the Tri-Cities (located in east Tennessee) and 19° (located in west Tennessee) up to 32° at Memphis Int'l Airport (definitely a concrete/blacktop created heat island).
