Lamar Alexander will likely have raised as much money as all of his Democratic opponents combined at the end of the second quarter:

Sen. Lamar Alexander’s re-election campaign said the Republican has raised more than $600,000 in the second quarter.

The Chattanooga Times-Free Press released an article recently questioning Senator Lamar Alexander’s commitment to the environment.

At his blog, Stacey Campfield puts out a plea for readers to hit his Paypal button. He says his campaign has 20 cents in the bank and debt (to him) of $16K.

Campfield, running for reelection to State House District 18, drew two Republican challengers in the primary, and no Democratic opponents.

In the wake of Lamar Alexander’s speech this morning announcing a new “Manhattan Project” for energy independence, one of Alexander’s Democratic opponents, former Knox County Clerk Mike Padgett, has released his own plan called “Energy 2.0.”

This doesn’t speak well of Congressman Marsha Blackburn:

Yesterday, the Alexander campaign busted out with a poll that showed the former Governor and Senator sitting pretty in the run up to the November elections.

In the poll, 68 percent said they approved of Alexander’s performance as U.S. Senator with 17 percent disapproval.

The Mike Padgett campaign has reacted to a new poll that shows their candidate with a slight edge over his primary opponent for the US Senate Democratic nomination Bob Tuke:

John Rodgers reports that a new poll out from Ayres, McHenry & Associates commission by Lamar Alexander’s reelection campaign show the Senator with a 68 percent approval rating and a large gap separating him from his potential Democratic opponents in potential head to head contests.
