Light posting at Coolfer these days. First there was time off due to illness, next comes Thanksgiving and much time out of town in December. This is usually a pretty slow time of the year, but I will post as often as I can.

The Financial Times reported today that Hulu, the joint venture video streaming site created by News Corp and NBC Universal, will soon pass YouTube in revenues. Hulu, which provides free, ad-supported streams of many popular television shows and movies, is available only to U.S.

• Of Ticketmaster's previously reported staffing cuts, 62 of the jobs came from TicketsNow. Ticketmaster announced last week it would cut 300 employees. (Northwest Herald)

• A recap of a EconMusic panel on mobile music. Said a BMG VP, "If you look at the money we’re making from mobile music, it’s going down - mobile music was a lot bigger proportionally a year or two years ago." (paidContent UK)

The Internet is abuzz due to MySpace Music's nearing launch. It was announced yesterday that four sponsors -- McDonald's, Sony Pictures, Toyota and State Farm -- will be on board as advertisers for the new music site.

• The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization is putting its catalog of Broadway musical show tunes and standards up for bid. The price is in the $150 million to $200 million range. In addition to major music companies, hedge funds and private equity firms are also said to be interested in the catalog. (Reuters)
