I've argued here before that we need to find some way to provide the poor and homeless with ways to get around Nashville.  This city isn't very friendly to walkers unless you're in the very heart of downtown, and if that's the case, the city isn't very friendly to those with little or no money, either.

Police tell the Salemtown neighborhood association that they have been working on trying to cut down on teenage burglaries in the North End by enforcing truancy codes.  However, it sounds liek they are not getting help from Nashville MTA.

When I'm on the street working with folks, it's rare that I have a large success, such as getting someone into housing. To me, that's a biggie.

To be sure, I've put a number of peeps into transitional and permanent housing, but most successes are small, barely worth mentioning here.

I was down in Original Tent City this weekend, passing out water and bus passes, when I ran into "Bob" down there. He's been living in Tent City for almost 7 years now and he's been growing a tiny garden down there for at least the last 5. I mentioned to him that I thought that was a great idea and then asked if he was interested in expanding it.
